False teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses by SHALOM

The Jehovah’s Witness and false teachings

The Jehovah’s Witnesses were started by Charles Taze Russell. Jehovah’s Witnesseshave a parent company called “The Watchtower Society.” They read the “New World Translation” Bible, which if you do a little bit of research will reveal itself as a very poor translation of the Bible, to say the least. When you see the obvious mistakes and the amount of mistakes, you will realize that someone either had no clue of how to translate correctly or they blatantly wanted a Bible to fit their own agenda and theology. In 1950 the Watchtower Society translated the New Testament and published the “New World Translation”, they had a complete translation of the their version of the Bible in 1961. Revisions were made in 1970 and 1984. Although secretive about the translation committee, it was later revealed by EX-Jehovah’s Witnesses who these men were. This is the list of men and their qualifications.

Frederick W. Franz, went to the University of Cincinnati and was a liberal arts major. He had 21 semester hours of classical Greek, some Latin, had a two-hour survey course in Biblical Greek and was self-taught in Spanish, biblical Hebrew and Aramaic.

George D. Gangas, was a Turkish national who knew Modern Greek. Translated Watchtower publications into Modern Greek. Had no training in biblical languages.

Milton G. Henschel, had no training in biblical languages.

Karl Klein, had no training in biblical languages.

Nathan H. Knorr, had no training in biblical languages.

Albert D. Schroeder, had no training in biblical languages.

These men are not very qualified to translate anything, let alone the Bible. Would you trust these men to tell you how to get saved when they don’t even know the God of the Bible.

http://www.gotquestions.org/New-World-Translation.html has done a very good job of describing how bad the “New World Translation” of the Bible really is.

  1. In Greek, word order does not determine word usage like it does in English. In English, a sentence is structured according to word order: Subject - Verb - Predicate. Thus, "Harry called the dog" is not equivalent to, "The dog called Harry." But in Greek, a word's function is determined by the case ending found attached to the word's root. In this verse, there are two case endings for the root "theo" . . . one is "s" (theos), the other is "n" (theon). The "s" ending normally identifies a noun as being the subject of a sentence, while the "n" ending normally identifies a noun as the direct object.

    2. When a noun is functioning as a predicate nominative (in English a noun that follows a "being" verb such as "is") its case ending must match the noun's case that it modifies, so that the reader will know which noun it is describing. Therefore, "theo" must take the "s" ending because it is modifying "logos." Therefore, John 1:1 transliterates to: "kai theos en ho logos." Is "theos" the subject or is "logos"? Both have the "s" ending. The answer is found in the next rule.

    3. In cases where two nouns appear, and both take the same case endings, the author will often add the definite article to the word that is the subject in order to avoid confusion. John put the definite article on "logos" (the Word) instead of "theos." So "logos" is the subject, and "theos" is the predicate nominative. In English, this results in John 1:1 being read as: "and the Word was God," (instead of "and God was the word").

The most revealing evidence of the Watchtower's bias is their inconsistent translation technique. Throughout the Gospel of John, the Greek word “theon” occurs without a definite article. The New World Translation renders none of these as “a god.” Just 3 verses after John 1:1, the New World Translation translates another case of "theos" without the indefinite article as "God." Even more inconsistent, in John 1:18, the NWT translates the same term as both "God" and "god" in the very same sentence.

So who was Charles Taze Russell, he was born February 16, 1852 and died October 31, 1916. He was an evangelist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1879 he founded the Zion's Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence. In 1881 he founded Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society, William H. Conley, an Allegheny, Pennsylvania banker, was the first president. In 1931 JF Rutherford namedthe group “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” The Watchtower Society is it’s parent company.

As a young man Charles Russell attended the Congregational Church. He had a fear of hell, but at the age of 17 he was persuaded that hell was not real and sought to fight the doctrine that hell was a real place. Unfortunately he spent his time spreading his own view instead of what the Bible teaches. In 1874 he claimed that he possessed all truth. From 1886-1904 he wrote six volumes of “Scripture Studies” which would later be the basis of Jehovah’s Witnesses doctrines. He tried to make the Bible fit his theology instead of making his life fit the Bible. When a man makes God fit his theology, he can then make the scriptures say anything.

Charles Russel     Watchtower's pyramid memorial, with cross and crown emblem and capstone. Russell's headstone in background.

Cross through the crown is the symbol of the Knights Templar, it is said that Charles Russell was a 33rd degree Freemason. There is also the All seeing eye at the top of the pyramid which is an Illuminati symbol.

So let’s delve into some of the false teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I hear so many people ask about the 144,000, who are they? Is that all that make it to Heaven? The Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that only 144,000 are saved and rule and reign with Christ for One Thousand years. This has got to be the most ridiculous teaching of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. It is very clear that the 144,000 are men from each of the tribes of Israel, 12,000 from each tribe. Revelation chapter 7:1-8 tells us very clearly who they are.

Revelation 7:1-8

1After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3"Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
5From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,
from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,
from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
6from the tribe of Asher 12,000,
from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,
from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,
7from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,
from the tribe of Levi 12,000,
from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
8from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,
from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,
from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

As far as them being the only ones who get to go to Heaven, let’s look what the rest of Revelation chapter 7:9-17 says.

Revelation 7:9-17

9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10And they cried out in a loud voice:
"Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."
11All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying: "Amen!
Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

13Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?"14I answered, "Sir, you know."

And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore,
   "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
16Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.
 17For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

This is so easy a child could tell you about it. Verse 9 says,

9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.

These people are obviously in Heaven before the throne of God, from every nation (193 nations on earth), every tribe (tribes of Israel, Africa, America, Europe, Asia, Middle East), every people groups on earth, every language group known to man. It also says, no one could count the number of people there, they are beyond numbering, they are a great multitude of people plain and simple. How many are born again? All of them, you can’t get to Heaven unless you are born again, born of the Spirit. How on earth anybody would teach otherwise is beyond me, the Bible is very clear. Make sure you don’t take anybodies word for anything having to do with the Bible, Study for yourself. If you honestly believe only 144,000 are saved, would you even try?

They claim Jesus Christ was put on a stake and not a tree. But the Greek word tree is very apparent in Galatians 3:13 and Acts 5:30, which are the scriptures they try to use for this claim. If you look in Strong’s Concordance, it is # 3586 and the word is Xulon Xulon, pronounced  xoo’ – lon, from another form of the base of 3582; timber (as fuel or material); by implication a stick, club or tree or other wooden article or substance: --staff, stocks, tree, wood.

It is very obvious that you can’t hang a man on a stake, so of course it would have to mean tree, in fact that is what it means “tree.” Why in the world would this even be a debate.

They claim that Jesus coming again will be in Spirit only, Matthew 24:3, the Greek word used here is parousia, in Strong’s Concordance, # 3952 παρουσία pronounced

par-oo-see’-ah, it does not mean in Spirit, rather it indicates that He is coming physically. Parousia is used 24 times in the Bible and in the ancient world they would have used this referring to official visits by royalty. Here are parousia definitions, Greek literal meaning of parousia: divine presence, derived from "para": beside, beyond, and "ousia": substance) the "appearance and subsequent presence with." It is not talking about His Spirit.

Jehovah’s Witnesses will tell you that Jesus is not God in the flesh. But in reality Jesus was God with us from His very birth.

Matthew 1:23

23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

God says they will look on me, the one they have pierced

Zechariah 12:10

10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.

Jesus is the One who was pierced who God says was Him.

Revelation 1:7
7Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

God said He is I AM

Exodus 3:13-15

13 Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"

14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' " 15 God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

Jesus said He is I AM

John 8:58
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

Jesus calls Himself God

John 1:18
No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

Jesus says, if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.

John 14:5-9

5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

Jehovah’s Witnesses will tell Jesus is a created being. But if we look to the scriptures we will see that all falls apart.

John 1:1-2

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses will tell you that Jesus is the archangel Michael, there is absolutely no grounds for this belief whatsoever.

God would not have all His angels worshiping another angel.

Hebrews 1:6

6And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

Jesus says He is Alpha and the Omega

Revelation 1:8

8"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Revelation 22:13

13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

John 20:28

28Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

These are but a few of the false teachings that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are trying to spread. And quite frankly, how can they know the truth when they are told not to read anything outside of the Watchtower Society.
