The Rapture by SHALOM

The Rapture:

1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him, we ask you brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming to be God. II Thessalonians 2: 1-4 NIV

In this passage alone, it is very clear that a Pre-Trib Rapture is not consistent with the word of God. The Apostle Paul tells us that the second coming of Jesus and our being gathered to Him will not come until the man of lawlessness ( Antichrist ) is revealed, and stands in the temple of God, proclaiming to be God. {The Abomination of Desolation}( SEE ALSO MATTHEW 24:9-15 )

If we look in Daniel 9:27, we see when The Abomination of Desolation occurs, it happens in the middle of the ‘seven.’ ( middle of the seven years )

27 “He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” Daniel 9:27 NIV

Now read Daniel 7:25

25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress His saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. Daniel 7:25 NIV

True Christians will not obey such a man, we see that the saints are handed over to him for 3 ½ years, this would most likely be the last 3 ½ years.

7 He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people and language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast - all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. 9 He who has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on part of the saints.

Revelation 13: 7-10 NIV

Once again we see the same picture as in Daniel 7:25, notice everyone on earth worships the beast except those whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life. If the Rapture had already taken place, then who are these people who’s names are written in the Lambs Book of Life? Furthermore verse 10 reads - This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on part of the saints. Looks like we are told to be faithful to Christ even unto death. And we may have to endure many hardships.

Revelation 14: 9-11 tells us what happens to those who take the mark of the beast, and gives a stern warning not to take the mark.

Now read Revelation 14: 12-13

12 This calls for patient endurance on part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes” says the spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

Revelation 14: 12-13 NIV

Again we see that the saints are to remain faithful to Jesus, and to have patient endurance.

4 I saw the thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20: 4-6 NIV

Clearly we see those who are martyred for their testimony of Jesus, and they had not worshiped the beast or taken his mark. These are Christians coming out of the Great Tribulation. If the Rapture had already taken place, then who are these who keep their testimony of Jesus. Notice in verse 5 it says, This is the first resurrection. The Rapture happens after the resurrection of the dead. I Thessalonians 4:15 tells us, we who are still alive will not precede those who have fallen asleep. (Died) This resurrection of the dead takes place after the mark of the beast is in place, Satan’s wrath. There are only two resurrections. One for the Godly, one for the ungodly a thousand years later. A pre-trib theory is impossible in this passage alone.

ACTS 24:15 and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. ACTS 24:15 NIV

Now read John 11: 23-24

23 Jesus said to her “ Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” John 11:23-24 NIV

We are reading here in the words of Martha that the resurrection is at the last day, if she was wrong, Jesus would have told her. We know Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, but Lazarus would have died again, and he will be resurrected with all the other saints in Revelation 20:5 at the last day.

Looking at John 11:24 and Revelation 20:5 side by side, (page 2) we see that from the time of Lazarus up until the time after the Mark of the Beast is implemented, all those who held to the testimony of Christ will then be resurrected together in the first resurrection.

15 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

I Thessalonians 4:15-18 NIV

Here in verse 15 Paul says, “in the Lord’s own word”, “we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord”, we will not be “caught up” to meet the Lord until the dead are raised first, we have already established when the first resurrection is, it’s after the mark of the beast.

Let’s look in Matthew 13: 24 - 30, Jesus tells us the parable of the weeds. A man sowed good seed in his field, his enemy comes along and sow’s weeds in the same field. Verse 30 goes on to say, Let them both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them into bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it to my barn.

Matthew 13:36-43 then tells us the meaning of the parable. The Son of Man [Jesus] is the one who sowed the good seed. The field is the world. The good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. [Christians]. The weeds are the sons of the evil one [non-Christian], the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, the harvesters are angels. The weeds are thrown into the fire at the end of the age. Jesus will send out his angels, they weed out of His kingdom everything that causes sin and evil doers. Verse 43 says: Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

It’s very clear that this parable is about the end of this current age. This parable can only fit a post-trib scenario Notice that the weeds (non-Christian) are gathered first (Battle of Armageddon) Revelation 16:16, then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of the father.

REV 16:16 Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. NIV

LUKE 21:25 "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." NIV

Here in Luke 21:, we see the prophecies about the Moon, Sun, and Stars.

Next in verse 27 it says - at that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud, Verse 28 then tells us to lift up our heads because our redemption is drawing near. If we are already in heaven at this time wouldn’t it have been better for Him to say, look down instead of up.

Now look at Acts 2:20

AC 2:20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. NIV

Here we are told the placement of each of these events, before the Day of the Lord, the Sun will be turned to darkness and the Moon to blood.

I COR 1:7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV

Here in I Corinthians we are told, …as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. Christ is revealed after the sign of the Sun, Moon and Stars. Then we are told Jesus will keep us strong to the end so that we will be blameless on the day of the Lord.

Isaiah 40:5 tells us that all mankind will see when the Lord is revealed.

ISA 40:5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." NIV

II TH 2:6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing.

II Thessalonians 2:6-10 NIV

Many Pre-Tribbers will tell you verse 7 is the Holy Spirit, the Church, or Government that is “taken out of the way” so that Satan can run amuck. But a closer study of the original Greek will show that nothing or no one is taken out of the way, but rather something or someone is to come into being or come out of the midst. In fact the Greek word for “Taken” does not even appear in verse 7

( Here are the Greek words from the Strong's Concordance )

G1096. ginomai, ghin'-om-ahee; a prol. and mid. form of a prim. verb; to cause to be ("gen"-erate), i.e. (reflex.) to become (come into being), used with great latitude (lit. fig., intens., etc.):--arise be assembled, be (come, -fall, -have self), be brought (to pass), (be) come (to pass), continue, be divided, be done, draw, be ended, fall, be finished, follow, be found, be fulfilled, + God forbid, grow, happen, have, be kept, be made, be married, be ordained to be, partake, pass, be performed, be published, require, seem, be showed, X soon as it was, sound, be taken, be turned, use, wax, will, would, be wrought.

G3319. mesos, mes'-os; from G3326; middle (as adj. or [neut.] noun):--among, X before them, between, + forth, mid [-day, -night], midst, way.

Of all the times the Greek word "Ginomai" is used in the Bible this is the only time it is translated "taken". Seems kind of odd to say the least, especially since the word appears hundreds of times in the Bible.

The correct translation should be, "until it comes up out of the midst". The Interlinear Green Bible actually translates this correctly.

There is no way that this scripture here is talking about the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is not an it. My opinion is that this talking about God's timing.

II TH 2:6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.

When God says He is ready to let things happen, then and only then will they come into being. No one is taken out of the way. In fact God's timing is now revealing the lawless one who will be destroyed by Jesus Himself.

Matthew 24:3-31

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"

4 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ, ' and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 "So when you see standing in the holy place `the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand-- 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again. 22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, `Look, here is the Christ!' or, `There he is!' do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.

26 "So if anyone tells you, `There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, `Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 "Immediately after the distress of those days" `the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'

30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Here in Matthew 24 we read the disciples asking Jesus "when will this happpen," and "what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age".

Jesus goes through a large list of things that will happen, the biggest clues in His answers are...... and this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world......then the end will come. Remember we are talking about His coming and the end of the age. He then goes on to talk about the "Abomination that causes desolation" which happens in the middle of the "seven" (week).

He tells us not to go to anybody who claims to be the Christ, we will all see him coming at the same time.

Verse 29 tells us AFTER the distress of those days is the sign of the sun, moon and stars.

The biggest kicker is here in Matthew 24:30-31, They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, THEN He will send his angels to gather His elect with a loud Trumpet call.

It seems to me as Jesus is coming back on the clouds, the dead in Christ are being resurrected and those who are alive will be “caught up” at the last Trumpet. We will then proceed to the “Battle of Armageddon” with Christ.

These are described also in the 6th Seal, the 7th Trumpet and the 7th Vial or Bowl

Seals are the LONG story

Trumpets are the SHORTER story

The Vials or Bowls are the VERY SHORT story
